This coin is the result of an incredible collaboration between Minted Assets, the American Numismatic Association, world famous coin designer Joel Iskowitz, The Commonwealth Mint, and the oldest private mint in the US, Osborne Mint.

The Reverse side shows a proud bald eagle flying over the Chicago “Bean” or cloud gate as it is officially called. Beneath the Bean is a medal that was originally done by famous coin designer Charles Barber to honor the founder of the ANA, Dr. George F. Heath. The first ANA convention was held in Chicago which is why the coin reads Birthplace of the ANA. The Obverse side of the coin shows an allegorical figure named NOMISMA which is Greek for the word Money. She is shown holding the official World’s Fair of Money show logo. E. Pluribus Unum is across the top which is Latin for “Out of many, one” which celebrates the coming together of the entire coin industry for this one event.

This is the first ever Dollar based legal tender coin ever issued for the ANA. Ascension Island has strong ties to the US as it has been used by the U.S. Air Force and NASA. The Air Force has a base there that supports the 45th Space Wing that helps track the International Space Station. Nasa operates a telescope there that tracks orbital debris. Ascension Island also is one of four islands that has a ground antenna used for GPS tracking. The island is located in the south Atlantic Ocean.
