2021 W Burnished American Silver Eagle Type 2 NGC PF70 MDS FDR – Moy Signature
The Type 2 American Silver Eagle has ten major design changes from the original Type 1 design issued from 1986-2021, including a completely new reverse design. This historic first year of issue Burnished coin struck at the WestPoint Mint has a low mintage of only 175,000 coins. Burnished coins were first introduced in 2006, they are made on specially prepared coin blanks and hand-fed into the coining press giving them a soft, matte-like finish appearance.
Coins are certified on a 70-point basis, with 70 being absolute perfection. This first in series Burnished coin was struck at the WestPoint Mint and issued with an identifying W mintmark. Furthermore, Edmund C. Moy, 38th director of the U.S. Mint and one of the best-known names in the popular Signature Series Rare Coin Market has signed the coin. The eye appeal and presentation of this piece is enhanced by being presented in NGC certified Mint Director’s Series black core holders.
