2021 W American Silver Eagle Type 2 Burnished NGC MS70 FDI – Guadioso Signature
This coin holds the unique distinction of being the first burnished coin released in the new Type 2 Silver Eagle series. Burnished coins are hand-loaded into the coining press and struck on specially burnished blanks, yet have a soft, matte-like finish appearance. The first Type 1 burnished Silver Eagles were issued in 2006 for the 20th anniversary of the series. The coins are issued with a mintmark identifying where they were manufactured. The mintage of this first year of issue Type 2 coins is capped at only 175,000 coins.
Condition
Coins are graded on a 70-point scale, with 70 being absolute perfection. Burnished coins are made using a special process. They are hand-loaded into the coining press and struck on specially burnished blanks giving them a soft, matte-like finish appearance. This coin is hand signed by Michael Gaudioso, a coin designer and engraver with 40 credits at the U.S. Mint. He is best known for the 2017 American Liberty High Relief 24-karat gold coin and through sculpting this new 2021 Type 2 American Silver Eagle. His initials are engraved on this coin.
