2016 GOLD HALF DOLLAR SP70 CABRAL

The Centennial Gold program in 2016 was completed by the release of the original, Walking Liberty Half Dollar minted for the only time in pure 24 karat gold. This beautiful design first appeared in 1916 when the mint released a silver half dollar with the Mercury Dime and Standing Liberty Quarter. The Walking Liberty design is immortalized forever on the famous American Silver Eagle coins released annually by the US Mint. In 2016, when this beautiful half dollar was released in 24 karat gold, the US Mint completely sold out this incredibly limited mintage on the heels of the massively successful Mercury dime, as well as the controversial Standing Liberty Quarter from the same series.
